My Story

My family is my life’s work. They are why I am, who I am. I’m patient, loving, nurturing and funny but I am also crazy, tired and a hot mess most of the time. You know those moments when you go to bed at night, reflect on the day and feel like you have completely failed as a person, as a parent and as a wife? I know I do. Then you know that moment you are flipping through your pics on your phone, or catch a glimpse of a portrait on your wall and you think....that was such a great time! Or, look how little they were! That's why I do, what I do. I want to give you that moment you can look back on and think.....I remember when______! Portraits can be amazing therapy for your soul. To remind you of things you may have forgotten. To remind you of what you have created and loved and lived for. Those people. Those moments.

It's funny. Two things that I hear a lot in my line of work from my families: 1) You have so much patience and 2) I don't how you do what you do. Easy answers to both....I always say I LOVE photographing newborns. LOVE!!! So being patient with them is not even an issue. I mean, really. They are so sweet and so fresh....I could eat them up! And I do what I do because I love it! I love all the silly behaviors of the kids. All the unique personalities that make them who they are. And on top of that...they aren't my kids (hehe). As a parent we're always getting on to our kids about staying still, and listening and to stop making those faces. As a photographer I get to become that "crazy aunt" (by the way, I do have a nephew who refers to me as Crazy Aunt Holly). I get to be the one who encourages the silliness and to make those funny faces and says "don't listen to mom." I get to enjoy your kids in all their glory for those couple of hours. I get to embrace all of their kooky qualities and not judge. All of that craziness, a lot of times, is what gives you that fun experience and an amazing picture. That one image that you can look back on when you're feeling blah and say.....Aahhhh, I remember when.....
